Patients with Dementia in Homecare Environments

The aging population and the consequent increase in the incidence of dementias is causing many challenges to health systems, mainly related to infrastructure, low services quality and high costs. One solution is to provide the care at house of the patient, through of home care services. However, it is not a trivial task, since a patient with dementia requires constant care and monitoring from a caregiver, who suffers physical and emotional overload. In this context, this work presents an modelling for development of pervasive systems aimed at helping the care of these patients in order to lessen the burden of the caregiver while the patient continue to receive the necessary care.
